PerformanceHub is pre-configured to use a simple 5 point rating scheme (Unsatisfactory to Outstanding), but you may wish to use your own scheme. For instance, you may want to use numbers instead of words or have a different number of ratings available.

PerformanceHub lets you independently define your own rating scheme for each rateable item:

  1. Appraisals

  2. Objectives

  3. Feedback

  4. Appraisal fields

Scroll down to see how each one works. Note, defining ratings for appraisal fields is covered in the Appraisal Fields help.

Please note, changes made to rating schemes can delete some previously rated items in the current or future review period. Previous periods will not be touched. PerformanceHub will warn you if this is the case. To avoid deleting ratings, it is advisable to make rating scheme changes very early on in a review period when it is unlikely that anything has been rated yet.

Appraisals

The appraisal rating is used to rate overall performance. It is used in the appraisal form itself by both the manager and their direct report.

There are 3 options to choose from:

1) Not Rated

When selected, PerformanceHub will not give people the option to rate overall performance.

Note, this option will not be available if you have Balancing enabled or the appraisal rating scheme is being used for Objectives and/or Feedback.

2) Single Rating

When selected, PerformanceHub will require people to choose an overall performance rating from the options you define.

To define rating options, first choose a label, e.g. Overall Performance. The label is shown on appraisals next to the ratings button. Next create some options. Each option has a short and a long definition. You can add or remove options by using the Add rating and Delete rating buttons.

3) Two Ratings

When selected, PerformanceHub will require people to choose an overall performance rating against the 2 schemes you define (Primary and Secondary). Example use: rate employees for "Performance vs Potential" or "What vs How" or "Delivery vs Behaviour". Label your schemes to meet your needs and then create the options for each scheme.

Objectives

The objective ratings are used to rate performance on individual objectives.

There are 3 options to choose from:

1) Not Rated

Choose this option if you don't want people to rate performance against each objective.

2) Use the Appraisal rating scheme

Choose this option if you want objectives to use the same rating as appraisals. If you are using 2 ratings for appraisal, objectives will be rated against the Primary appraisal rating scheme.

3) Dedicated

If you select this option, you can create a rating scheme dedicated to rating objectives. Note, if you have the Objective Bonus feature enabled, then you must use a dedicated objective rating scheme. The scheme will allow you set the influence each individual rating has in the overall bonus calculation. When enabled, you will see a column called Bonus. This is a weight that each rating has. The sum of the weights does not need to add up to 100. For instance, if your highest performance rating for an objective was "Far exceeded expectations" you may want to have a bonus of 120%.

Feedback

When providing feedback, a performance rating can be provided. You have the same options to configure feedback as you do for configuring objectives. Note, you are only given the option to configure feedback ratings if you have enabled feedback in the Setup page.
